When I arrived at Vicki's parents house in the morning of her wedding to Richard, a couple of things struck me. Firstly, Richard was by far the most organised groom I ever shot a wedding with. There were print outs of colour coded spreadsheets detailing everything happening. It was simply astounding, and something I totally appreciate :) Vicki was quite calm and had the support of two bridesmaids and her niece, who I have to praise at this point for being totally fantastic in front of the camera. Instead of "cheese", a firm favourite was "chocolate biscuits" :)
I caught up with Richard at Ebenezer Congregational Church in the busy centre of Airdrie. His two ushers were doing a fantastic job ushering, looking back I actually think I've never shot as many ushering photos than at this wedding! When Vicki arrived, it had started to rain a bit - but this remained the only wet spell of the day. The ceremony was lovely, but what I remember most from it is that the minister forgot to sing one of the hymns! This caused a lot of hilarity!
We travelled to New Lanark Mills Hotel and the weather improved, so that we could take the group photos as planned outside next to the river Clyde. Time always passes so quickly at weddings and Vicki and Richard were called in soon to form the receiving line.
After the meal and speeches, Vicki, Richard and I went for a few quiet moments and a few more photos to the roof terrace, which was just lovely. Stunning views and the light was delicious! Afterwards the evening was kicked off properly by Vicki and Richard's first dance.
Vicki & Richard, many congratulations on a truly well organised, truly lovely day! Really enjoyed everyone's company and being a part of your big day.
