Trash the Dress : Model Mayhem photo shoot

While flicking through one of my favourite photo mags, I came across an article talking about the Model Mayhem website. I checked it out and immediately liked the concept: bringing like-minded artistic people together to create great photography! Before long I had joined the site and started organising a trash the dress photo shoot. I had this idea of shooting models in wedding dresses somewhere really different, like a derelict place. Further research on the internet (honestly where would we be without it?!) spelled good news:
1) there is a whole plethora of great run-down locations in the wider Glasgow area
2) you can buy an entire wedding outfit (including dress and accessories) for under £10!

After sorting the outfits, finding two lovely models via Models Mayhem (Nic and Kirsty) and deciding on locations (I went for an abandoned farm house and a beach), I decided that a familiarisation trip was in order. It turned out though that I didn't have the guts to familiarise myself with the farm house... as I got seriously creeped out on my first visit :) Luckily for me, Gary was there at the actual shoot and Kirsty also wasn't fazed by the location... having said that, you really couldn't beat the place for grungy backgrounds! The beach as our second location was a perfect contrast and finished the shoot off nicely. And I've got some fantastic pictures to show for it, no small thanks to Nic and Kirsty, who were just fab!! Thanks again girls!! It was so much fun.

Here are some of my favourites - starting off at the farm house...

...and finishing off at Lunderston Bay, just as the sun was beginning to set:
