Nicola & Ross | Glasgow Portrait Photographer

Some of you may remember Nicola from our Trash the Dress photoshoot in October. It was lovely to meet her and boyfriend Ross again in January for a portrait shoot ! The two of them are just a fantastically photogenic couple and I had a hard time narrowing down the photos for this post to ... 35?! Well if you can call this "narrowing down"! :)
We went around the Merchant City in Glasgow on a freezing Saturday morning, and it was such a laugh. First I was offered cuddles by a random van driver (he probably felt I was loosing out as Nicola and Ross cosied up to each other), then a fellow Glaswegian cheered "Get a room you dirty b*s" while Nicola and Ross were smooching away! Honestly you have to love this city!

While there was no special occasion as such for Nicola's and Ross' photos (apart from them being in love which is always a good reason!), this is the type of engagement photoshoot which comes free with all my wedding packages. So if you are engaged (or someone you know)... get in touch!

Well Nicola & Ross - I really hope you enjoy your photos! And thanks again for being such awesome models! :)

People Watching | Women in Business Seminar

Yesterday I went to a networking seminar at my local business centre. While I go to learn (and so far it's all been very useful!), they are also a good laugh. That's because you meet the most fascinating people there! It must have something to do with the fact that many people who decide to set up their own business are of the outgoing, flamboyant type! Yesterday I met a woman who runs her own facepainting business dressed as a fairy. It was inspiring listening to her story!

As much as I wouldn't call myself shy or retiring, I'm certainly not flamboyant either! So it was interesting to hear in yesterday's seminar about different types of behaviours in people and that by watching them closely, you can tell which group they belong to, and then adapt your style to them. Two things the tutor said really resonated with me; that there are no difficult people - they are just different, and that we see the world not as it is, but as we are. So true! I think everybody makes the mistake of judging people by their own standards... difficult to avoid but everybody can just gain by being more tolerant.

And because every post is better with a photo... here is another landscape photo I took on my last Scotland holiday, of Tioram Castle. Very peaceful & beautiful!

Sarah : Portraits | Glasgow Portrait Photographer

I am still surprised how we managed to avoid the snow at Sarah's Portrait Shoot just before Hogmanay - it seems difficult to remember a time when it wasn't snowy or icy outside! Saying that, it was still absolutely freezing, but Sarah was fantastic and didn't complain once. Then again, as she rightly said she is used to the weather here by now, having lived in Glasgow all her life. I am hardly from a warmer climate but my fingers were about to fall off at the end of our shoot!

Although it was a very overcast day, we found a lot of lovely spots in Glasgow's city centre - I was hunting out all the colourful backdrops. There certainly seem to be a lot of blue doors in Glasgow! And I just love the Georgian architecture, it looks really impressive in photos.

Sarah thanks again for a fab shoot! It was lovely to meet you, and I hope you are enjoying your new photos.

A new favourite!

Sneak preview : Sarah : Portraits

Notice the changes to my blog?! Well there are a few more in store, coming soon ;) I've been really busy with other (non-photography!) things lately but just wanted to quickly post a photo of Sarah's portrait session from last week... It was absolutely freezing in Glasgow! More to come soon!

More albums!

I know I have just blogged about albums in my last post and here I am, posting about album spreads again! ;) It's just that I received another couple of albums just before Christmas and they turned out really well. In order to give this post a festive edge, I photographed them in front of our Christmas tree. Hope you enjoy!

First of all - This is my new sample album from Claudia & Dirk's wedding which I'm going to use to show future clients... and I really hope they will love it as much as I do!! I had a hard time deciding which colour to order it in but went for black in the end as it's just such a classic look, it's hard to beat. I will have to go with another colour for my next sample, if only to do justice to the choice!

Second album - This is another idea I had recently, to offer future clients: A wedding guestbook, with photos from the engagement (or pre-wedding) photo session! I think it works really well for several reasons: it's a great way of showing off the engagement photos, and it also makes the guestbook much more personal and interesting for the guests to complete - i.e., not having to write in a stiff formal album. I made up a sample with Sarah & Gary's engagement photos. It turned out great!

Album spreads : Catherine & Brian

Last week I received Catherine & Brian's wedding album in the post and it really was a bit like Christmas come early :) I just have to share some pictures of it, as it turned out so well! I've decided that album design is easily my favourite part in post-processing, as I could spend ages designing and changing spreads. It's very addictive! I like my album layouts nice and clean, so the photos can really stand out and make an impact.

The album was ordered in black leather 10x10 - I love the modern & clean look, and the embossing makes it really personal.

Favourite spread - I love the impact of a panorama!

Claudi & Dirk : Married : Part II

Here is the second installment of the wedding I shot back in October, of my gorgeous friend Claudi and Dirk. We left off as the happy couple made their way in style to the registry office...
The ceremony was simple but touching, and followed by champagne, bubbles and roses in front of Hanover's town hall. We then made our way to the Maschsee, a big lake in the middle of Hanover, for the wedding meal. I loved the fact that the two had chosen a place for their wedding celebrations which had real meaning for them; Claudi and Dirk had walked around the Maschsee on their very first date.

Claudi & Dirk, I've said this before but you had the perfect wedding and I had great fun capturing it!!

The story so far
